Pachypodium sofiense

Sometimes classified as a subspecies of P. rutenbergianum. From two areas in Madagascar, P. sofiense is fairly rare in the wild and classified as a “species of concern.” It gets it’s name from the Sofia River, which flows through part of the habitat where it can be found.

White flowers.

Light: Full sun to very bright indoor.

Water: Water regularly in summer growing season. Mostly dry in winter dormant period, water every few weeks lightly.

Temperature: Min 10C, in general no lower than 15C.

Pachypodiums may lose all or some of their leaves in winter when they go dormant. They will grow new leaves in spring.
